Bassem ElAzhary is a Counsel at Meysan and a member of the firm’s corporate practice. Bassem has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, entity structuring, and cross-border transactions across Egypt and the UAE. With a decade-long legal career, Bassem has developed a strong focus on procedural and corporate legal advisory, representing multinational corporations, financial institutions, and energy and infrastructure clients in high-value transactions and regulatory matters.

EXPERIENCE
  • Advised First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB UAE) on the merger of its two Egyptian entities: FAB Egypt and Bank Audi Egypt (2023).
  • Represented Paramount Energy in the restructuring of group companies and a high-profile money laundering case valued at USD 10.5 billion.
  • Assisted Edita Food Industries in the acquisition of 100% equity in Fancy Foods S.A.E., valued at EGP 380 million (2023).
  • Represented Enova, Majid Al Futtaim, and Arcor International on new entity formations under ADGM regulations (2024).
  • Acted for Creative Software Solutions on company establishment under DWTC and DMCC regulations (2024).
  • Advised Litat Group, Garhy Steel, and NSPO on MTO, DD, and acquisition of 82% of Suez Steel (transaction volume: USD 1.1 billion).
  • Acted for EFG Hermes in acquiring a New Cairo-based school portfolio from TMG Holding, valued at EGP 1 billion (2018).
  • Represented AXA Insurance in its EGP 763 million acquisition of Commercial International Life S.A.E. (2015).
  • Advised National Marine Dredging Company on a joint venture with Suez Canal Authority forming EEMDC, including EGP 8.7 billion in contracts.
  • Assisted DP World Group with the restructuring of its Egyptian subsidiary companies.
  • Supported Sterling & Wilson, Al-Fanar, FCC Aqualia, and Chint with branch establishment and EFCBC registrations.
  • Advised Tana Africa on liquidation and Alcazar Energy on acquisition in a 50MW FIT project in Benban, Aswan.
