Lama Abou Ali

Lama is a senior associate at Meysan Partners and a member of the firm’s Capital Markets practice.

Lama’s expertise focuses on both Capital Markets, M&A, and project development matters. She advised major local and international clients, including private and public institutions, and international organizations on infrastructure and energy projects, project finance, M&A, and technology.

Before joining Meysan, Lama worked as an independent legal counsel and was the group legal counsel of a renowned bank in Lebanon for more than eight years.

Selected experience includes representation of:

  • Designed and proposed legal structures for renewable energy and waste management projects
    • Advised consortiums of municipalities on the structuring of solid waste management projects
    • Created Inception Memorandums identifying and anticipating legal risks and needs
    • Drafted and negotiated a wide variety of agreements related to waste management and solar and wind energy projects (PPAs, EPC, O&M, technical services, JV and grant agreements…)
    • Advised on licensing and permitting requirements and assisted in securing permits for the projects 2
    • Advised on environmental legal and regulatory requirements
    • Advised private and public parties on Private Public Partnership projects and conducted negotiations with the Higher Council for Privatization & PPP

  • Advised on the first IPP project financing in Lebanon (180 MW wind farms in North of Lebanon)
  • Advised major local and international companies on various corporate and other Lebanese and Iraqi law matters.
  • Advised on M&A transactions involving the Audi Group, from licensing phase to operational stage, which include among others the incorporation of a bank in Turkey, liquidation of a bank in Monaco, sale of an insurance company in Lebanon and sale of a bank’s shares in Sudan.
  • Advising a client on the acquisition of Hammoud Hospital – University Medical Center S.A.L., the largest university hospital in South Lebanon.
  • Advising an international client on the purchase of a major Lebanese F&B business franchise.
  • Advised major international oil companies and subcontractors on the establishment of legal presence in Lebanon and Iraq.
