Salma Abdelaziz

Salma Abdelaziz is a senior associate with Meysan Partners. She specializes in international disputes resolution, where she maintains a broad international arbitration practice, having handled cases under various institutional rules, including the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL and CRCICA. In addition, Salma has extensive experience in the TMT industry and advises leading IT and telecommunications companies, sports federations and media outlets on all matters involving regulatory and licensing obligations and compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy laws as well as local and regional competition legislation.

Prior to joining Meysan Partners, Salma worked in the arbitration and TMT departments of leading Egyptian law firms. She also acted as tribunal secretary in arbitrations under the CRCICA and DIAC Rules and interned with the arbitration department of a leading Swiss firm.

Salma was recognized as a “Key Lawyer” in The Legal 500 (Legalease) EMEA 2021 in the Dispute Resolution (Arbitration and Litigation categories).

  • Defended the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in a precedent-setting investigation before the COMESA Competition Appeals Board; and in an ICC Emergency Arbitration under Swiss law concerning the alleged unlawful termination of a one-billion-dollar sports broadcasting and marketing contract (ICC Case No. 24925/DDA(EA)).
  • Acted for a European sports marketing company before the COMESA Competition Commission with respect to its alleged breach of COMESA Competition Regulations following its execution of a multi-million-dollar sports broadcasting contract with a European-based international sports association.
  • Represented an international association of airlines in a multi-million-pound insurance dispute before the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority’s Dispute Settlement Committee, closing the chapter on a longstanding legal battle between an Egyptian insurance company, a US-based reinsurer, and the client.
  • Advising leading technology companies, sports federations and media outlets on matters relating to data privacy, compliance and media.
