Kuwait City, Kuwait – Meysan Partners, a leading Middle Eastern law firm, has advised the British School of Kuwait in connection with its becoming part of Nord Anglia Education, a leading provider of international schools based in Hong Kong. Nord Anglia Education operates 46 schools globally for children between the ages of 2 and 18, with over 38,000 students across 15 countries. Roughly 64% of students come from expat families while 36% are children of local families.
The British School of Kuwait is one of the leading private schools in Kuwait, with a selective intake of students aged 4 to 18. Most teaching programs are based on the National Curriculum of England. Year 10 and 11 students undertake programs of study leading to GCSE and IGCSE. Sixth form students work towards Edexcel AS and A Level examinations.
Under the terms of the transaction, both the British School of Kuwait and The Sunshine Kindergarten have become members of the Nord Anglia family of schools, connecting students and staff to other Nord Anglia schools around the world.
Nord Anglia schools educate children at preschool, primary, and secondary level (also referred to in the US as preschool, elementary, middle and high school). Most schools within the organization follow a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England Schools offering IGCSEs and the International Baccalaureate.[3] In some locations, A‐levels, the French Baccalaureate and the Swiss Maturité are also offered.
As a result of the transaction, it is expected that students will be able to participate in Nord Anglia’s global programs, learning with other students around the world through unique experiences and curricula, including collaborations with some of the world’s leading universities. Staff will also benefit from access to further resources, support and expertise.
As part of Nord Anglia’s global community, BSK will continue to be led by the same trusted leadership and talented staff, now with access to even more resources, expertise and opportunities to further enhance the education we offer our students.
The British School of Kuwait was represented by Meysan Partners, as legal counsel, and by Ernst & Young, as financial advisors. The Meysan team was led by senior partner Bader El‐Jeaan and included partner Michael Yadgar, with support from associates Michel Ghanem, Mosaed Al Ajeel, Abdulwahab Sadeq, and Mazen Zein.
